Hello, darkness, my old friend,
I''ve come to talk with you again.
Because a vision softly creeping,
Left its seeds while I was sleeping
And the vision that was planted in my brain,

In restless dreams I walked alone,
Narrow streets of cobblestone.
’Neath the halo of a street lamp,

1、Hello, darkness, my old friend, I've come to talk with you again. 你好，黑暗，我的老友，我又来与你聊天了。

这首歌一开始就用拟人的手法（personification）把黑暗赋于人性，要与黑暗老朋友交谈一下。因此，作者以黑暗引出主题，因为黑暗是寂静的代表，黑暗与夜的来临即是寂静的降临。

2、Because a vision softly creeping, left its seeds while I was sleeping. = A vision softly crept and left its seeds inside me while I was sleeping. 因为我熟睡时，幻影悄悄爬来，在我心中播下种子。
