 M: Dà jiā hǎo! Huānyíng shōutīng Xiànzài Xué Hànyǔ. Wǒ shì ML. S: Wǒ shì Stuart. Let's see how you did with your homework, all that money. M: Ok, the first sentence was, I need 10,000 pounds. S: 我需要一万英镑 wǒ xūyào yí wàn yīngbàng. M: Next. I need 22,000 Canadian. 我需要两万两千加元, wǒ xūyào liǎng wàn liǎng qiān jiāyuán. S: I need 33,000 Euros. M: 我需要三万三千欧元 wǒ xūyào sān wàn sān qiān ōuyuán. S: He has 45,000 Canadian dollars. 他有四万五千加元。 M: I need 445,000 pounds. 我需要四十四万五千英镑。 S: I must give you 500,100 Canadian dollars. 我得给你五十万零一百加元, wǒ děi gěi nǐ wǔ shí wàn líng yìbǎi jiāyuán. Duìxiàn lǚxíng zhīpiào. S: 兑现 DUI XIAN duìxiàn, both in fourth tone, mean ‘to cash', as in ‘cash a cheque'. M: And we've learnt 旅游 lǚyóu, which means ‘to tour' or ‘travel' lǚyóu. 旅行 LV XING lǚxíng, third tone second tone, means the same thing, lǚxíng. S: So what is a 旅行支票? Méi cuò. A traveller's cheque. 支票 ZHI PIAO, zhīpiào, 1st tone 4th tone, means ‘cheque', zhìpiào. So ML will now finish by saying, Now we'll pop over to the Bank of China, to cash some traveller's cheques.
