加长版 extended edition
近日，美国发行量最大的杂志《读者文摘》出版公司债务缠身，不得不申请破产保护。《读者文摘》在美国陷入经济困境一方面是因为近年来网络的冲击，另一方面和时下的金融危机也不无关系。尽管《读者文摘》在美国经营惨淡，但是在中国的营业额却增长稳定，不但照常运营，今年四月还在中国推出了加长版。

In April, the 87-year-old Reader's Digest, the most popular general interest magazine in the United States, published its first extended edition in China to enrich the content of the magazine with pictures and words.

四月份，美国最受欢迎的综合性人文杂志《读者文摘》在中国出版了第一辑加长版，用更多的图片和文字使杂志内容更丰富。《读者文摘》至今已经走过了87个春秋。

在上面的报道中，extended edition就是“加长版”。不光杂志有加长版，电影也有加长版。例如：Fried Green Tomatoes (Extended Anniversary Edition)是“油炸绿蕃茄（周年纪念加长版）”；The Bourne Identity - Explosive Extended Edition是“谍影重重：火爆加长版”。

除了extended edition外，我们还可以经常见到portable edition（携带版），special edition （特藏本），abridged edition（节略本）。如果是报纸，版本就更多了，像Evening edition（晚版）、Sunday edition（周日版）等。修订本是expurgated edition或revised edition。还有现在也很流行online edition（网络版）。外出还可以携带可爱的pocket edition（袖珍版）。

Extended还可以和其他许多词组成常用词组，如an extended coverage（增加的保险承保范围），extend meaning（引申义），extended family（大家庭），还有extended play（慢速唱片）。(无忧英语教育)
