Isla Fisher's long waves in Confessions of a Shopaholic are the latest look for hair. Is there a way to mimic her hairstyle that won't require spending three hours and and a $100 in a salon?

US hair stylist, Brenda Berry offers four easy at-home steps.

"The key is to craft touchable, soft waves. Not something that will crunch in your fingers," she says.

Obviously, the look requires some length for starters. Then:

1. Apply mousse to damp hair. Dry with a diffuser unless your hair is naturally curly; in that case, blow-dry it straight but use a round brush to preserve some volume at the roots.

2. Once hair is dry, use a large-barrel curling iron to create a natural curl pattern. Start at the middle of the hair shaft, not the root, and then wind the hair around the outside of the curling iron, instead of clamping down on the ends and rolling it up. "The trend is to be looser now," Berry says.

3. Once hair has cooled, use your fingers to gently break up the curl.

4. Lightly spray your hair to preserve curls. Then, hands off - unless you like frizz.
